A question you might have is "what type of paper should I use?" and the answer varies depending on what you are making. For most models I recommend cardstock paper. It's more durable and is less likely to cave in. For really tiny models (for example these models from PaperPokés) I recommend using regular printer paper as it is thinner and easier to work with on small models.
I'm not sure if there is "cardstock" paper in other countries, it may be called something else, but basically use thicker paper for all paper models except the really tiny ones.
